Great Flinders Round 9 Preview

The split round has arrived in Great Flinders, meaning only two matches will be played each round over the next two weeks.

Join us as we preview all the action ahead of this weekend.

Lock vs Cummins Ramblers

Lock

Ins – Josh Crosby, Andrew Heath

Outs – Sam Pearce, Jaidyn Beard

Ramblers

Ins – Jake Skinner, Mitch Dennis, Henry Treloar

Outs – Ethan Langley, Jack Treloar, Saxon Rogers

The Roos would have enjoyed the last two weeks off, allowing a few players to recover from injuries and finish up on tractors, whereas the Magpies have been incredibly unlucky with injuries so far this season.

Ramblers will be celebrating a huge milestone of one of their favourite sons with George Pedler racking up his 250th Senior Game for the club. A notable big game player with one of the most impressive country football resumes found anywhere.

Lock has kicked some impressive scores this season thanks to their tall forward line. Aaron and Travis Beard spearhead the attack with Kory Beard and Lachlan Heath often swapping between defence and forward depending on matchups.

The Magpies will be missing two of their key midfielders in Langley and Chandler but welcomed back their captain in Blair Buchanan last week. Jacob Parsons and Jake Horton have been in great touch for their side and will be vital in shutting down the powerful Roos midfield.

Jimmy Richo will likely line up against Damian ‘Gonzo’ Kelly, with both players racking up several best player nods so far this season.

The wing battle between Dusty Wheare and Toby Modra will be crucial, especially on the big expanses of the Lock Oval.

Expect Ramblers to come out firing for Pedler’s 250th but the Roos should be far too strong in this one at home.

Elliston Districts vs Cummins Kapinnie

Elliston Districts

Ins – Mitch Robinson, Stephen Milne, Matthew Williams, Fraser Smith, Luke Hutchinson

Outs – Harry Quigley, Jarrah Donavan, Jason Thompson, Archer Van Doorn, Scott Feltus

Cougars

Ins – Hayden Bennett

Outs – Alastair Hausler

A few big ins for Elliston Districts headline this match with former AFL stars Mitch Robinson and Stephen Milne lacing up the boots for the Roosters at home.

Elliston Districts need a win desperately to keep in touch with the top 4 after Tumby Bay defeated Ramblers at home last weekend.

Cougars will be coming into this game full of confidence after recording another win against Eyre United at Ungarra.

Jaxon Bennet and Kody Rosalia have formed an excellent one-two punch in the midfield and welcoming Robinson and Matty Williams will only increase their dominance.

Cougars will look to their tall leaders in Phelps and Wandner to take charge of this game.

The Cougar youngsters continue to improve each week with Charlie Sheppherd and Henry Turnbull improving and playing key roles in this side.

Once again, expect a huge crowd at Elliston to watch this one.

Elliston Districts to win and kickstart a huge night on the Rooster Juice.
