2026 Agfert Fertilisers Karkoo Junior Carnival Results

The small town of Karkoo came alive as eight Under 12 teams converged to battle it out for the 2026 Karkoo Cup.  The young footballers put on a fantastic display of skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the carnival.

The carnival kicked off with Marble Range taking on Cummins. With the players kicking the dew off the wet grass, it was a tight opening contest, with Cummins eventually holding on to win by just one point.

Waybacks then put United Yeelanna to the sword, recording a convincing eight-goal victory.  Bostons continued the winning momentum, defeating Ports FC by five goals, while Tasmans and Tumby Bay played out a close encounter, with Tasmans going down by just nine points.

The start the second round Ports FC found their form, producing a strong performance to defeat Cummins by 16 points. Bostons continued their excellent form for the carnival with another impressive result, defeating Marble Range by eight points.

Waybacks showed no mercy against Tasmans, who continued to battle admirably despite the tough assignment, with Waybacks running out eight-goal winners.

One of the highlights of the carnival came when United Yeelanna and Tumby Bay played out a thrilling draw. It was arguably the game of the carnival, with both sides refusing to give an inch in a highly competitive contest.

Tasmans faced a tough draw for the carnival, coming up against both teams that would eventually contest the grand final. Their clash with Bostons proved another difficult assignment, with Bostons running away with an eight-goal victory.

Marble Range then recorded a solid seven-goal win over United Yeelanna.  Ports final game versing the in form Waybacks team provided great interest with Ports racing out the blocks to take a 3 goal lead and the early carnival favourite looked like they might have met their match but a rousing half time speech by coach Meyers had them kick away with a 5 goal to nil half and win by 5 points. This saw the final minor-round match where Cummins finally broke through for their first win of the carnival.  Cummins came out firing against fellow Great Flinders juggernauts Tumby Bay and secured a well-deserved victory to finish their minor-round campaign on a high.

The two dominant teams for the day to now compete for the cup. Bostons to take on Waybacks in what promised to be a fitting finale to an entertaining carnival.

The first half was incredibly tight, with very little separating the two sides. At the main break, Bostons held a slender one-point lead, setting up an exciting second half.

Just as they had done in their previous match against Ports FC, Waybacks lifted after half-time. They flexed their muscles in the second half, kicking 2 goals to break the game open and eventually run out two-goal winners.

A special congratulations goes to Waybacks on their carnival-winning performance, and to Bostons for their strong showing throughout the day and their efforts in the grand final.

The 2026 Agfert Fertilisers Karkoo Junior Carnival was a fantastic celebration of junior football, bringing together U12 Footballers from all over the peninsula for a day of competitive and entertaining football.

The 2026 Agfert Fertilizers – Karkoo Junior Netball Carnival was held Sunday 16th August, with 18 netball teams participating across two divisions from Eastern Eyre, Great Flinders, and Port Lincoln Netball Associations. Live scores and ladders were available via PlayHQ to track the 72 games that were played, and with no grand finals played this year, winners were awarded on points and percentage for each division.

The undefeated winners of the Division 1 – Heather Norton Shield were Central Eyre United Storm. The undefeated winners of the Division 2 Shield were Tasman Imperial 2.

Thank you to all the players, coaches, umpires, volunteers, families and supporters who helped make this carnival such a successful and memorable day. The enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed by everyone involved made it a great advertisement for junior football and netball in the region.
