United Yeelanna Football & Netball Club extends our deepest sympathies to the Kay family following the passing of Rex Kay, a Life Member of UYFC since 1985.

Rex's connection to the club spanned more than six decades. He first pulled on the blue and gold as a player in 1964–1967, including as part of the 1964 B Grade premiership team, before giving countless years of service to the club in almost every role imaginable.

 Mini Colts Coach — 1970–1974

 Colts Trainer — 1970–1975

 Colts Committee President & Secretary — 1976

 Senior Trainer — 1967–1969 & 1976–1977

 Goal Umpire — 1978–1980

 A Grade Team Manager — 1981–1990

 Vice President — 1980–1985

 General Committee Member — 1980–1985

Rex wasn't simply involved in the club—he invested in it. He took a particular interest in the young players coming through the ranks and loved watching the next generation find their feet in the blue and gold.

For decades, Rex was a familiar face at The Koo. He was renowned for arriving very early on game day to secure his favourite parking spot, sometimes hours before the first bounce, settling in to watch the football from the comfort of his car. In later years, watching his grandchildren take to the field and court gave him enormous pride.

A lasting tribute to Rex's contribution to UYFC is the Rex Kay Stand, with a large section of the Kooplex verandah named in his honour. It is fitting that his name will continue to be part of The Koo—a place where he spent so many Saturdays supporting the club he loved.

Rex was a true club person. His decades of service, his dedication to our young players and his unwavering support from the sidelines have left an enduring mark on United Yeelanna Football Club.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the Kay family, and especially to all those who shared Rex's love of UYFC.

Vale Rex. Thank you for everything you gave to our club.
