GFNA - 1st Semi Final

E Grade - Lock vs Ramblers

The E grade ladder has been incredibly tight in 2023, coming down to the final match of the season to determine the 4. Both teams have claimed the win on the other with Lock winning by 9 in their first match, then Ramblers coming away by 8 goals later in the season. Ramblers defence in Della Pedler & Tilly Richardson have been strong all year and will provide a tough contest for Lock key shooter Indy Morton. Ramblers will welcome Grace Richardson back into their side, bringing some extra height and strength into their goal circle. Annabell Bowey will be one to watch for Lock in their defensive end. Both teams come into this match with some great form, Locks boys and E reserves players have been stepping up in recent weeks. This should be a tight match all over the court, coming down to who will step up on the day for their team.

D Grade - Lock vs Ramblers

This game will certainly be one to watch with their last match resulting in a draw. Exceptional junior talent will be on display from both teams. Sophie Morton from Lock will be well matched against Ramblers goalie Bella Agars. Ramblers versatile defenders in Annie Shirley, Millie Speed & Isla Nagel will be well contested by Georgia Kay who is strong in the goal circle for Lock. Both teams have come off some solid wins the last few weeks and will be looking to continue that in the finals, this match should be a cracking game for the players and spectators.

B Reserves - Cummins Kapinnie vs Eyre United

Both teams have had a great season, each coming away with a win the last times they met. Eyre United are versatile in the goal ring with multiple options in Grace Nicolson, Jessie Liddicoat, Matilda Lockwood & Georgia Priestley. They will come up against strong Cougars defender Jenna Anderson. Down the other end Cougars Josie Turnbull will be consistent in their goal ring, but Brooke Stratford & Nyrie Baillie for Eyre United will make life hard for her. Eyre United will be missing one of their key midcourters in Nicola Baldissera with a knee injury, although her energetic courtside support could still be a cause for concern for Cougars. This game should be a tight tussle down the whole court, coming down to who can settle early and capitalise opportunities. It will be well contested with both teams hungry for a finals win.

B Grade - United Yeelanna vs Elliston Districts

In what has been a tight competition the B grade final is shaping up to be a close one. Both times this season Yeelanna have come out on top by only 2 and 5 goals, the Roosters girls will be keen to get one back when it counts. Yeelanna have been working solidly together down the court, resulting in some key wins to boost them into finals. Elliston captain Tara Brace will be one to watch, playing a vital role in the attack end. Yeelanna’s Kelsey Ridley and Maggie Eldridge apply close defence, their hard work should be well rewarded by goalies Sandy Hall and Jessica Crosby. A possible match up could be young guns Ava Brace (Elliston) and April Wagner (Yeelanna), both have speed and agility through the middle. Both teams are missing key players in Dana McFarlane for Yeelanna and Jay Dudley for Elliston. Expect this one to be close.

A Reserves - Tumby Bay vs United Yeelanna

All three previous games this season Yeelanna have come away with the win, but Tumby will be hungry for a victory when its needed. Both teams are full of skill and experience. Yeelanna champion Heather Norton will be strong in their defence end against Tumby’s skilful goalie Chelsea Franks. Sarah Southern in defence and Kristy Modra in midcourt will both be strong for Tumby. Yeelanna young gun Mylee Haylock will be one to watch. This game will be hotly contested down the court and will be a battle of who can value possession and keep the nerves at bay.

A Grade - Eyre United vs Lock

Eyre United come into finals off a slew of victories and will be keen to repeat the win they had against Lock a few weeks ago. Both teams have had an up and down season so will be coming out firing to get that finals win under the belt. Eyre United’s Eden Telfer and Tammy Lucena will be looking to shut down Locks key goalie Lisa Burrows. Both teams are brimming with key players who are able to change the game momentum in a matter of a few turnovers. Lock will miss Chloe DuBois but will welcome in talented D Grader Georgia Kay who has impressed in previous senior matches. Both teams will be keen to settle early, this match will be one to watch and should come down to the wire.
